Highway 2 U

A 4 track neo-soul ep (22m 28s) — released June 25th 2007 on Pantone

Straight from Jazzy Sport productions Tokyo the jazz influenced hip-hop three-piece known as Breakthrough consists of DJ Jin, DSK Invisible and Masaya Fantasista. Introducing the funk soul guru and all round ambassador of cool, Joseph "Amp" Fiddler chills out with Breakthrough with the lounger of jazzy notes crisp guitar work and electronic velvet. A 21st century super-fly hipster with the aura of Jimi Hendrix and self dubbed "fro-hawk" hairstyle, Amp Fiddler showcases his smooth baritone Afro-Strut singing on Highway 2 U. Having recently collaborated with the likes of Nate Jones, and the Grammy nominated vocalist Angelique Kidjo and Corinne Bailey Rae, his past work includes recordings with Prince, Lucy Pearl, The Brand New Heavies, Maxwell, Seal, Carl Craig and many Moodyman productions. The chilled out original gets remixed by man of the moment DJ Simbad whose "Soul Fever" single on Raw Fusion was one of the tracks of the year in many circles. Simbad brings the track to the dancefloor with a beat workout and uber tension similar to Pepe Bradocks "Deep Burnt". Over on the B side Breakthrough put their feet up with the queen of nu-jazz broken beat and voice of a movement Bembe Segue. Best known for her collaborations with 4 Hero Bugz In The Attic and Mark de Clive Lowe, Bembe Segue's vocals on Breakthrough's "Green Like The Sun" have already gained airplay from Gilles Peterson Worldwide on BBC Radio 1.
